A day in the life of two kids in Santa Paula, CA in 2045
The Story Behind the Film
This film shows how two typical school-age siblings, Zak and Ashleigh, can be seamlessly mobile in 2045, while their parents are always reassured of their safety. Set in the real small town of Santa Paula, the story is based on plausible assumptions about how societal and technological trends could provide new, positive opportunities for these kids. For example, we presume that future education systems will place more emphasis on field trips and experiential learning to support personal development. Access to these activities is supported by an array of highly connected, user-friendly mobility modes. Some of these modes have evolved from those familiar to us today and some are new.
The film demonstrates that transportation systems must support the way people want to live in the future. Today, the way we live is too often limited by the lack of transportation options.
